Listed on eBay for £3,950, this 1985 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection has been off-road for years but is ready for a new lease of life.

The next owner must be prepared to undergo a full restoration project to get it back to its best, however.

As explained in the item description, the Ford Capri will need “substantial rust repairs” and, as a minimum, “new sills, chassis repairs, inner wing tops, lower rear valance and wheel arch repairs”.

Furthermore, the engine has been described as “totally unknown” and will require a full rebuild, while all seats will need to be recovered – although they are the original type.

The keys are also said to have been misplaced.

However, there are plenty of plus sides to the old motor.

According to the current owner, the roof and sunroof are in good condition, meaning any potential buyer can really enjoy those summer drives.

The car’s front panel can also be salvaged, as can the door panels amongst other parts.

And included with the vehicle is a matching spare wheel, radiator and expansion bottle, front bumper, propshaft, a drivers door and a spare fuel tank.

As a final note, the seller confirms that the Capri is HPI Clear and registered with the DVLA.

The Capri is being sold by Mike Hill in Worcestershire.

Manufacturing of Ford Capri’s stopped in December 1986, although it’s popularity saw nearly 1.9 million units sold in its lifetime.

Last week, a “mint condition” 1986 Ford Capri hit auction in Essex, having been up and running for more than 33 years.

According to the seller, the car has had single ownership – and has hit some 119,500 miles throughout its life.

And what could be the “best Ford Capri ever” with a retro cassette player and aerial has also arrived at auction.

The mint motor in diamond white was registered in 1986 during the height of the Thatcher years.
