These two demonstrate the power of a four-legged friendship that can help you overcome any obstacle. Remember the old saying about cats and dogs fighting? This adorable cat-and-dog duo defies it and relies on teamwork, cooperation, and a bond that cannot be broken. We can all learn from Spike and Max to love life and cherish our loved ones.
Max (also 8) is Spike’s lifelong companion and friend. Dog named Spike has been blind for eight years. Saving Grace Animal Society, an animal shelter in Alberta, Canada, received the dedicated pair after their previous owner surrendered them on Jan. 25.
As Amanda McClughan, shelter coordinator, explained to CBC News, both people had mostly lived outside, and their strong bond likely developed between them while huddling for warmth. Spike’s eyes were removed due to painful cataracts.
Max – The Supportive Cat
McClughan says that Max has a “supporting character” than a leader.
The support Max provides makes him feel more comfortable,” she said. It’s almost like bringing down his stress and anxiety because he can smell him and feel him.”
How They Find A Forever Home Together
In order to find Max and Spike a new home, the shelter posted about them on their Facebook page on Feb. 9. Spike is described as a “happy-go-lucky boy” who lives life to the fullest and loves to relax on laps.
The post says Max is the yang to his yin. Max is the constant in Spike’s life, and so it’s important to adopt them together. He’s a great character and will make you laugh.”
Eventually, thousands of people liked and shared the post, and within a few days, the pair had found a new house. According to a recent update from Saving Grace Animal Society, Spike and Max were adopted together and are heading for their new home in Manitoba.
The post reads, “On their way home to their new mother. Our best wishes to this adorable duo.”
