1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport: A Coveted Car Model for Every American

Featuring a 600 horsepower big block, a custom suspension, and a classic Marina Blue on Medium Blue color combination, this nouveau Chevelle Super Sport is one super cool classic that’s ready to rock and roll!

Restored over the course of a decade, this coupe wears an exceptionally solid body under a cool coat of traditional blue urethane. Naturally, that body was completely disassembled, massaged into an impressively straight canvas and expertly detailed to provide a show worthy appearance that’s structured around good panel fitment.

Once that fitment was locked in, carefully sprayed layers of basecoat were topped with a thick clearcoat shell, and thoroughly buffed into a smooth, flat shine. And currently, as a piece that’s much nicer than any mass-produced survivor from the late 60s, this hardtop displays a super clean finish on top of a high quality restoration that’ll last for years!

Under this Chevy’s hood you’ll find a buff 427 that, thanks to JE pistons, a Competition camshaft and a .030 overbore, pushes roughly 600 horsepower to the car’s fat rear tires. At the top of that hundred octane monster, coated Edelbrocks utilize a polished air cleaner, braided fuel lines and a high quality Marshall pressure gauge to slide a perfect air/fuel mixture into a big Edelbrock intake.

That intake, which is cinched to a chrome thermostat housing and sleeved radiator hoses, rides between custom valve covers and aluminum Brodix heads that are fitted with high quality roller rocker arms. Those rockers make good use of hot fire provided by a modern MSD distributor, which sequences spark between a bright MSD box, a familiar MSD coil and high performance MSD plug wires.

Resultant combustion is jettisoned through big, aluminized side-pipes via long-tube Hooker headers. Cooling is provided by a lightweight, aluminum radiator that’s anchored to a beefy Edelbrock water pump and two quick-spinning, electric puller fans. And charging comes courtesy of a chrome alternator that, along with a chrome timing chain cover, hangs within an attractive March pulley system.

Behind that thundering 427, a rugged Muncie M21 4-speed sends power to a narrowed and braced 9-inch that spins a limited slip differential around stout, 4.10 gears. That surprisingly streetable drivetrain is held off the ground by a fully rebuilt suspension which mixes modern Wilwood discs and traditional rear drums with factory power steering, retrofitted coil-overs and full wheel tubs. And at the corners of the car, 15-inch American Racing Hoopsters twist 215/70 Hankook H714s in front of 31×18.5 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans.

During its restoration, this Chevelle was equipped with a great looking Medium Blue interior that presents well and shows minimal wear. At the center of the car, front bucket and rear bench seats are in great shape, displaying no cracks or annoying rips.

In front of those seats, a warp-free dash supplements bright chrome trim with an Auto Meter Autogage tachometer and direct-fit, Panasonic tape deck. And in front of the driver, an attractive Grant GT steering wheel spins a thick black rim around bright chrome spokes.
