Barn find classic cars are often some of the most unique and memorable experiences for any car enthusiast and this one is unlike no other. Kent over at Speed Bump Garage and his friend Stewie stumbled upon a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback which was idle for almost two decades and took it home to return it to its former glory.
While their YouTube channel is yet to take off, the original video of them finding and hauling the Mustang away from its dusty slumber in its previous owners’ barn has become one of their most popular videos on the channel and its no wonder why as the Ford Mustang GT is a true classic American muscle car.
1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Parked For Decades
After a year-long restoration project, The Mustang finds its way to Kent as Stewie needs room in his own garage for another restoration project. Kent takes full advantage and takes the Mustang out of the garage to see what it can do. During their restoration, the guys at Speed Bump Garage decided to bring the Mustang to the 21st century and fit a Bluetooth speaker into the sound system.
Straight away, the key turns over and we hear the roar of the engine of the reborn Mustang. The car is almost unrecognizable from the day they took it out of the barn to now after a full detailing throughout.
Kent saved some original parts such as the carburetor and air filter in case they need them later. But for now, they use newer parts so it can run smoothly. Straight away we noticed the sleek design and tires of the Mustang after the removal of layers of dirt and grim. To the surprise of many, they find hardly any rust which is rare in such a barn find like this.
Kent is unsure of the displacement of the engine since it has a 428 on the intake. He speculates that it could be that or a 390 cu-in engine. However, he would have to take the engine apart to confirm.
Sitting inside, it’s clear how much work has gone into the restoration as the leather seats are pristine compared to what they were. These are often one of the first things to waste away in a car that sees neglect for so long. The interior looks great and Kent explains he will be replacing the headliner soon. However, the removal of the windshield needs to happen first.

After taking it easy for a bit and letting the 1969 Ford Mustang warm up, Kent mentions that the brakes still need some upgrades but decides it’s time to show us what it can do and floors it. The engine roars and it takes off which is no surprise given what is under the hood.

Kent and his son are all smiles and share a moment of laughter as he brings the speed back down. The rolling shots of the Mustang driving throughout a local park really capture the beauty of such a timeless car and the original blue paint catches your eye from the moment you see it. Kent describes the car as a hot rod and praises the mechanics that went into making it
