This one here is a beautiful custom-built 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with a beefed-up engine, letting the muscle car roar on a modified dual exhaust. It’s bright, shiny, and of course, very pink. It may not be the most masculine, but it brings a level of ’70s cool to otherwise modern streets.
The 1972 Camaro Z28 Is A Rare Beast
The 1970 Chevy Camaro turned fans wild with its stunning good looks and way better engine. It came with crisp body lines and the Rally Sport package turned the split-bumper front downright menacing. In 1970, the LT-1 V8 motor made 360 horsepower, although it went down to 330 in 1971.
By 1972, despite GM deciding to put in a 400 cu-in V8 in the Camaro, a UAW strike left them high and dry with only a detuned LT1. The ’72 Camaro Z28 had far fewer takers given that it came with only 255 horsepower. Even then, it managed a recorded quarter-mile of 14.5 seconds at 93 mph according to MotorTrend, which was not exactly stellar but not all that bad also.
We appreciate this build simply because the ’72 Chevy Camaro Z28 is rare, given Chevrolet produced only 2,575 of these.
This Chevy Camaro Z28 Is A 525-Horsepower Build
Peel off the shiny pink paint and this Camaro restomod is still a powerhouse, given that the owner, Crister Frigren engine-swapped it with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8, for a total of heart-pounding 525 horsepower. A loud dual exhaust and air suspension add to the magnificence of the ride, and the shiny bright pink color scheme makes it the cynosure of every eye on the road.
Jamboolio’s video may be short, but it leaves you with a hankering for the car, as it glides down Finland’s cobbled streets and even does a few impressive burnouts. The name of the car suits it to perfection, given that Frigren calls it his “Pinkcess”. Just don’t let the color fool you because it has the goods under the hood.
